DPS Telecom Announces the High-Capacity NetGuardian 864A RTU

Fresno, Calif. -- DPS Telecom, a leading developer of network alarm monitoring solutions, announced today that they have released a valuable addition to their line of high-quality RTUs. The 64-point NetGuardian 864A builds on the strength of the NetGuardian platform and has more alarm capacity than ever before.

The NetGuardian 864A is a RoHS 5/6-compliant, LAN-based, SNMP/DCPx remote telemetry unit.

The 864A doubles the alarm point capacity of the NetGuardian 832A. However, the 32-point model remains available for sites with smaller capacity needs.

The latest NetGuardian includes the same high-speed processor as the 832A G5, allowing you to process alarms faster than ever before. The advanced processor also provides considerably faster web page views.

"The NetGuardian 864A is designed for clients who need a lot of alarm inputs and advanced monitoring functionality in just 1 rack unit," said DPS President Eric Storm. "The NetGuardian also supports more processor-intense functions, which will allow you to handle advanced monitoring applications with your remote."

DPS has also extended the memory capacity of the new NetGuardian, resulting in more RAM and flash memory than any existing generation. With forthcoming firmware updates, this extra memory will allow for considerably more functionality using the extra memory space.

The first of these firmware updates for the 864A adds support for SNMPv3. SNMPv3 supports message encryption for applications where security is a must. The 864A also continues NetGuardian's longstanding support for dual SNMP managers.

Just like NetGuardian 832A G5, the new NetGuardian 864A has all the features you have come to expect from the NetGuardian family, but it offers even more capacity. This 64-point RTU allows you to monitor 64 discrete alarms, 32 ping alarms, and 8 analog values. You also have the ability to control remote site equipment with 8 terminal server ports and 8 control relays. A wireless IP modem option (either CDMA or GSM / GPRS) is also available.

Multiple alarm reporting options are, including sending alarms to multiple SNMP managers or the T/Mon NOC Alarm Monitoring System. The 864A reports alarms via LAN, serial, or dial-up connection, and it also sends automatic pager and email alarm notifications. The 864A allows you to monitor your remote site from anywhere using the NetGuardian's built-in Web Browser Interface.

The NetGuardian 864A has all the tools you need to manage your remote sites, including built-in alarm monitoring, paging, and email capabilities.

The new RTU has support for serial baud rates up to 115,200, an additional RS-485 polling port for GLD/ECU expansion, triple CPU speed for faster processing, an optional built-in 4-port switch, an optional external temperature sensor, analog readings accurate to within 1%, dual 10/100 NICs (isolated), and SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 Trap and Inform support.
